Derek has worked as a professional designer and technician for the stage and screen for over 10 years. Derek has designed Lighting and Scenery for Theatre, Dance, and Music from classical to hip-hop, in venues as diverse as basement fringe theatres, music clubs, and multi-million dollar performing arts centers. He has worked in theatres all over the United States with the help of four national tours, and has only four more states to check off before he can rightfully say he’s hit them all. Being an instinctual questioner and impassioned problem-solver, he is relentless in his efforts to expand his horizons, both personally and professionally. In that spirit, he is currently working on his MFA in Lighting Design at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. My joy for the continued opportunity to work with so many wonderful artists is surpassed only by my passion for bringing a good story to life through the collaborative process.
